Give Your Classic Car a New Lease of Life

Over time, even the most protected classic car could use some help. From a new paint job and auto body work to a complete rebuild, at Yesteryears Classic Cars & Trucks we restore classic cars to make them look as good as new! We ensure that your car's old world charm will be protected during our restoration process. Call or visit us today to learn more about our other auto services.

Classic Car Build Process

  • Photograph and documentation of your vehicle before we start with the restoration
  • Inspection of body panel and panel flushness to check any gaps
  • Old cars may have pot metal or die cast extensions, so we check that as well
  • After our inspection, the vehicle undergoes a thorough pressure washing
  • Dissembling of the car parts is performed
  • We use 4 post lifts to remove parts from the bottom and other sides as well
  • After disassembly, most of the parts might be dirty and greasy. This is washed in a hot tank
  • All parts that have to be refinished and restored are cataloged and stored with numbers assigned to each of these parts
  • We use a bin system to store shop manuals and photographic history of the car parts
  • We remove all the undercoat and check for rust and see if new metal needs to be purchased
  • Sealing off any holes or openings
  • A rotator is used to remove all the undercoat and to strip off all the paint
  • An initial blasting is done to check holes or dents and then a final blasting is performed. Here, epoxy primer is applied
  • Zinc chromate is used for added protection
  • After the blasting and priming is done, the body is leveled out and the panel alignment process is initiated
  • A re-body project is approached differently
  • Using different tools, small dents are removed. For larger dents, straightening is performed
  • Pulls, if needed, will be done at this stage
  • New frames are built on hot rods and the floor system is checked to make a decision on whether to keep it or replace it entirely
  • Plastic barrel media is used to blast fiberglass cars and parts
  • A chassis can be built from scratch or a new one can be purchased
  • Tires and wheels are fitted to the project to see how it may look later
  • Engine and other components are added
  • Taping of all polished parts for extra protection
  • All factors are considered while adding the seating arrangement to the project
  • All the frames, custom or original, are blasted with 80 grit aluminum oxide and later primed and sanded before painting
  • After this, wrapping is done to protect the painted frame from dust
  • Painting of the frame is done and is ready to be installed in the body
  • Any additional body work to straighten certain sections is performed in this stage
  • Blocking, curing and priming is done to your car's body. We have customized sanding blocks to fit any shape and size
  • Wetting down of the car is performed to check for ripples
  • The steel bumpers are added
  • Auto lift hood is added using hidden hydraulic cylinders
  • Wiring system is upgraded or completely rebuilt
  • Sound systems, both hidden or otherwise, are fitted
  • We use state-of-the-art technology to locate and find the right parts and components for your vehicle
  • In this phase, mechanical rebuilding is performed
  • A paint booth is used when painting small parts to ensure efficient curing
  • Wood work is another area we specialize in
  • Seating upholstery is added
  • After the chassis is done, the drive train is added and tuning is done before running it
  • The body is then dropped on to the frame
  • After this, the color is decided in consultation with the customer and the paint is applied
  • After coloring, sanding is performed using 1000, 1200, 1500 and then 2000 grit paper. Buffers are used wherever needed
  • Once polishing is done, we carefully assemble the vehicle using latex gloves to avoid any scratches. From glass installation to upholstery, we do it all
  • A test drive is performed and the refurbished car is transported to your location
